Tips on boosting your business

by Admin 25. July 2011 02:39

Jacob Cass, a 23 year old graphic designer is featuring #1 on the Google search engine only by searching a few keyword for his business. “I don’t do any advertising at all” says Cass, “All of my business comes through my Web site”.

What he does possess: a Web site, justcreativedesign.com, that tops the results when you type “freelance graphic designer NYC” and its variations into Google, a feat Cass achieved through back-end fiddling, weekly blogging on design topics and intelligent site architecture.

According to a recent study by Optify, the first three organic (nonpaid) results in a Google search get 58.4 percent of clicks, with more than half of those going to the first entry. As a result, Cass never has to look for work; he claims to receive a half-million site visits a month ,and 15 substantial project leads a week.

If creating your own Web site has been on your someday-maybe list, it may be time to move that to-do up a few spots. If you’re a self-employed or creative professional, you already know that it’s essential to attracting new clients, showcasing your latest work and telling potential customers where to find you. If your career is corporate, a Web site isn’t going to replace Ye Olde Resume, but it’s a great place to showcase what a catch you are for employers.

So here it is, quick easy steps to create your own website:

STEP 1: Buy your domain name

This is an annual fee to keep your name out there. To host your website on the web, will cost you a minimum monthly fee. Contact Xplore Studio to help you set this up.

STEP 2: Map out your content

To improve your site’s visibility, you may also want to link up your Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and Facebook accounts.

“It’s absolutely crucial that anyone building a personal Web site integrate their social destinations into their site,” says Anthony Zarro, founder and managing partner of Drive Action Digital, a digital marketing agency. “You’re creating content that lives in multiple places that link to one another, which improves your SEO [search engine optimization].”

So can putting a blog on your site. As Cass can attest, a news stream rife with target keywords can drive traffic to your site through social media channels and searches. Cass regularly blasts his articles on design topics to the 42,267 Twitter followers who know him as @justcreative.

STEP 3: Choose a look and feel

This is where we come in… getting to know you better by sharing thoughts on what works best, what looks great and how to get there. Xplore Studio provide you with a flat image of the website and you decide if it works for you before we do the actual development on it. Xplore Studio also offer setup for WordPress websites and blogs at a minimal rate.

STEP 4: Remember, it’s all about you

“Any site, whether it’s a personal or brand site, should be emblematic of who you are,” says Zarro. “It should tell your story the way you want it to be told.”

STEP 5: Promote yourself

Once your site is built and optimized, don’t be shy. Put the URL in your e-mail signature and on your social media profiles. Get your friends to “like” it on Facebook and “plus one” you on Google+. If you do blog, send your posts out over your social media channels.

Contact Xplore Studio and we can help you to setup all the above at a cost-effective rate!

Website for Bacchus Equipment

by Admin 1. February 2011 07:56

Bacchus Equipment is a leading supplier of quality capital equipment and consumable items to the wine, olive and beverage industries.

Our client wanted their website to reflect a warm and inviting effect rather than project a clinical and cold feel with all their equipment on the Homepage. Seeing as they supply their equipment to the wine industry and their offices are situated in the beautiful town Paarl, we could play around with the image of the vineyards.

This just goes to show that no matter what industry you are in, your website can portray your products in an attractive manner.

Website for Gospel Singer Gwendoline

by Admin 23. November 2010 07:01

Gwendoline is a gospel singer and you can feel her presence as she enters the room.

I personally love the look of this website – especially the patterned background. For that added personal touch we used photos of Gwendoline throughout her website – these gorgeous photos did wonders for the look and feel.

We added some functionality to her website by integrating sound clips of her songs as well as a calendar where she can add and remove shows.

The website gives Gwendoline the freedom to add and edit her information as she sees fit and that was a huge bonus for her.

It has been great working with Gwendoline -  to see God’s presence in her every deed and her talent that she is devoting solely to Him. Truly an inspiration to us all!

Website Design as sweet as Chocolat

by Admin 7. September 2010 10:13

Being women and all when we heard the name Chocolat we jumped at the opportunity to take part in the design and development of this website. To those of you who have paid a visit to Chocolat Cafe and Décor Shop will know exactly what we mean when we say that detail is the key to this cheeky coffee shop.

The website needs to display the ambience and decor of the coffee shop. We played around with the colour brown to give it that warm effect and of course it is indeed the colour of chocolat. We used pictures of the food and interior of Chocolat to bring forth the look and feel of this unique coffee shop.

If you are ever in the area make sure you order a piece of their incredibly moist chocolat cake as this is certainly one of their many favourites.

All and all we had a great time with Wilma Basson, owner of Chocolat, and it always gives us great pleasure to design a website for a place with this much character.

Property Website

by Admin 1. September 2010 09:14

We had a great time planning, designing and developing HDK Properties’ website. The ladies from HDK Properties made us feel welcome and we discussed the design and ideas regarding the website over a cup of tea.

With the design they decided to stick to the corporate colours of HDK Developments – so we stuck with the blue but just spiced it up a bit.

This website is database driven with an administration portal where the agents can upload there own information and photos on different properties.

We especially enjoyed the process of making the About Us page.  It was great fun taking the pictures and playing around on photoshop.

The business of an Estate Agency is to sell and we think that their new and fresh website will ease their process in doing so.

Especially in this industry web presence not only strengthens your brand, but also gives you the platform to great exposure.

Elegant Dining Design

by Admin 28. May 2010 06:25

This is an absolute beautiful restaurant in the heart of Durbanville and we always love doing designs and development for businesses within our community. Do yourself a favour and visit Pistachio for an elegant dining experience that will leave a lasting impression.

The trick with this website was to capture the detail of the restaurant’s interior on their website. We loved the freedom Wilma Basson, owner of Pistachio, gave us to play around with the detail.

Watch this space for Wilma’s other business, a quaint coffee shop called Chocolat. We are also whisking our wand of graphic design, web development and corporate identity on this project.

Please go and visit Pistachio’s website and view their mouth watering menu at www.pistachio.co.za.

Construction has never looked this good

by Admin 26. May 2010 08:18

When Jannie Kotze, owner of Top Living Construction approached Xplore Studio for the revamp of their construction website, our design team needed to get our creative juices flowing seeing as men in hard hats don’t usually get your imagination going. Well, unless the company is called Chip and Dales.

Top Living Construction wanted a
professional and elegant look which projected the services they deliver. We worked with their original blue colour and played around with the grey to give the website
that professional edge.

We are especially
very proud of the “About Us” page where each of their personnel members has their own resume. For the group photo we decided to do something fun and photoshopped them into the infamous  photo of “Construction Workers Lunching on a Crossbeam”. We had a blast
with these exceptional clients and if I ever need any construction related services done their number will be the first one on my list.

Although a construction website can seem relatively cold, Top Living believes in that
personal touch and this is exactly why we are busy implementing a blog
for them.

We believe in
long term relationships and would like to thank Top Living Construction for trusting Xplore Studio to shape their brand and corporate identity. We look after all their design and development needs from business cards to signage design. Also, if you find yourself in the Northern Suburbs please check out their great marketing exposure on the bus stops down Durban Road. Of course, Xplore Studio is responsible for the design and print
work.

Please contact
Top Living Construction for all your residential, commercial and industrial construction and remodeling projects. You can contact them on (021) 979 5713 or alternatively info@top-living.co.za.

We put a smile on her face

by Admin 21. April 2010 09:11

At Xplore Studio we pride ourselves in fresh, practical and creative web design. After we designed and established Smile Photography’s corporate identity Catherine requested a practical website where she could display her photography portfolio and use it as a marketing tool. Of course our team jumped at the chance as photography websites are usually great fun and requires that personal touch. Smile Photography focuses exclusively on weddings and therefore it is also our responsibility to capture those special moments on their website.

With more than 120 weddings under their belt, Catherine and John work as a team to capture those unique shots. They will provide you with a very personal service and memorable wedding photography together with images you will treasure forever.  Phone Catherine on 082 929 9276 to make an appointment or alternatively email her on catherine@smilephotography.co.za.

A website similar to this one will start at around R3500.

Why is a website so important?

by Admin 7. April 2010 03:19

We at Xplore Studio pride ourselves in designing and developing websites that are fresh, pure and practical.

Most of us know the importance of a website and this might be your primary marketing tool, but there are still some industries where a website is seen as an unnecessary expense for a company.

Here are a few thoughts to ponder on as to why we at Xplore think that EVERY business can benefit from a well designed website.

  • A website allows your business to stay open 24 hours of the day. A customer can thus take a look at your profile or products whenever suits them and they are not dependant on opening or closing times. It offers an easy and convenient way for people to do business with you.
  • These days one of the most popular ways for customers to get in touch with a business is to contact them via their website - therefore a necessity for any company.
  • It is a very cost effective marketing tool where clients can browse through your products and services in the comfort of their own home.  Communicating your message through a web presence can be a lot less expensive than traditional media.
  • Websites increase customer referrals. What is easier to remember - www.xplorestudio.co.za or 021 975 1005.
  • With a website you are not limited to a certain area, region or province – it allows you to have a global presence 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days of the year.
  • Your company will get the chance to grow – firstly with a larger number of customers and also national/international presence. The ongoing process of redefining your products and content will breathe new life into your company.  You can always keep your product/service information up to date and fresh.
  • With a website you can create the professional image that you would like your company to project. So if you are working in a small workshop that is not very kind to the eye, our website can project the final ambience of your product.
  • Websites promote future business. You can use your website to collect data of visitors such as email addresses and send them periodical promotional emails, newsletters or updates on your product or service. So although they may not buy first time around, you have more than one opportunity to close the deal!

We think ALL businesses – new and ‘old’, small and big – should have some kind of web presence. Don’t miss out on this growth!
